Private Antenatal Breastfeeding Classes

Feel Informed, Calm, and Confident Before Baby Arrives

A person is holding a round, knitted object with concentric circles in beige and brown colors. Another person is breastfeeding a baby, lying on a bed with striped sheets, with a hand gently supporting the baby's head.

2.5 to 3 hours | €200 at home | €180 at Rose Clinic, Bray

Preparing for breastfeeding before your baby is born can make a real difference to how supported and confident you feel in the early days. This relaxed, practical session is designed to take the mystery and much of the anxiety out of breastfeeding, chestfeeding, pumping and combination feeding, so you feel grounded and ready no matter how your birth unfolds.

Home sessions are offered primarily at weekends, making it easy to include your partner or birth support person. Clinic sessions are available at Rose Clinic in Bray on Fridays.

Who is this class for?

This class is suitable for first time parents who want to feel fully prepared, families who had a difficult feeding experience previously and want to approach things differently this time, those planning a caesarean birth or expecting multiples, parents navigating a high risk pregnancy, and anyone who wants clear, evidence-based information in a safe, warm and inclusive environment.

What does the class cover?

We explore how breastfeeding and milk production works, positioning and latch, skin-to-skin contact, recognising hunger cues and understanding what effective feeding looks like. We also cover common breastfeeding challenges and how to navigate them, hand expressing and pumping, ways of giving extra milk, returning to work while breastfeeding, partner support, self-care, and where to find help after your baby arrives. Every session is adapted to your own circumstances, questions and goals, allowing space for honest discussion and practical guidance throughout.

What is included?

A quick reference guide packed with practical tips, a comprehensive 60 page booklet covering everything discussed in the session and more, a 20% discount on a postnatal lactation consultation, and individualised advice tailored to your specific circumstances throughout.

Optional: breast and nipple assessment including flange sizing support if you are planning to pump.
